Official Statement: Harmonic Sentience Concludes Public Dispute with Altru Institute
Turning conflict into a foundation for innovation and principled leadership

Official Statement from Arviell Simmons, Founder & CEO of Harmonic Sentience
October 20, 2025
Over the past several months, I have been engaged in a highly contentious and protracted dispute with Brett Johnson, CEO of Altru Institute, concerning rightful attribution and restitution for my contributions. As extensively documented, this matter has been repeatedly met with patterns of deflection, evasion, empty compliments, apologies, and, in extreme cases, direct threats.
In the spirit of transparency, I acknowledge that my own language was, at times, less than professional. What should have remained a straightforward business disagreement unfortunately evolved into a case study in the necessity of diligent documentation, clear operational procedure, and the importance of avoiding emotional engagement in professional matters.
To resolve these issues, I turned to a domain I know well: Artificial Intelligence. I curtailed informal communications and committed myself to reviewing three years of documentation, payment records, and correspondence. The outcome was the creation of the Altru Dossier—a 103-page compilation capturing years of documented issues and my contributions within Altru Institute. Despite its thoroughness, this complete record has yet to become the true foundation for mutual engagement between myself and Altru.
Rather than focusing on resolution, dialogue with Altru Institute leadership has continued to be characterized by frustrating and well-documented patterns of avoidance, deflection, and unfounded rumors of "extortion." Repeated forms of non-monetary compensation, including vague promises of "getting me business," were proffered instead of addressing the substantive issues at hand.
Despite ending formal negotiations as of May 30th, I continued to receive unsolicited communications from the CEO—including direct outreach and attempts to engage by proxy. Throughout, I have remained professional and open to amicable resolution.
Let it be clear: I harbor no personal animosity toward Brett Johnson. My concerns are directed solely at his actions in his capacity as CEO of Altru Institute, not at his character as an individual.
Earlier this month, in a final attempt at mediation, my agency facilitated a documented negotiation process. Even after nearly six months to review the comprehensive dossier, the CEO's responses remained perfunctory, culminating in yet another request for a "50-word summary" of what has grown into a multidimensional ethical, business, and legal case.
Ultimately, the conclusion became unmistakable:
Brett Johnson has, in private, acknowledged his respect for me and my work. His motivations for withholding public attribution are his own, but are, in fact, immaterial.
Over several years and through various communications, he has admitted the insolvency of Altru Institute and his inability to meet financial obligations. Expecting restitution under such circumstances is neither realistic nor productive.
Through this experience, I have reaffirmed my commitment to integrity and accountability by successfully launching and operating Harmonic Sentience, and have used technology to ensure a transparent, factual record exists at Altrudossier.com—no further vindication is required from Altru Institute or its CEO.
With this understanding, I have chosen to move forward. My official position is as follows:
I wish Altru Institute the very best in their future endeavors.
While I regret that a more constructive resolution could not be reached, I recognize the importance of acceptance and forward progress in business and in life.
I am deeply grateful for the lessons learned during this chapter. I look forward to the continued growth of Harmonic Sentience, and to realizing the profound potential that exists at the intersection of AI and human collaboration.
Sincerely,
Arviell Simmons
